Driving to Delaware!

Alright. Alright. Alright! Yes we did drive all the way to Delaware; the very first state! We ended up leaving Queen Creek, AZ to Golden Valley, AZ (where both our mother's live) and then days later went up to American Fork, Utah to stay with Jason's grandparents, Bud and Dixie, who live next to the Mount Timpanogos Temple. It was an Easter General Conference and we were able to hear it on the radio.
So DAY ONE: We left American Fork, UT around 8:00am and it was already snowing!

Weather was crazy until we entered Wyoming. Here is something unusual that we saw; have you ever?

Not every day that you see a boat being towed when there's SNOW!
There were SO many museums that interested me very much. They even had a Fire Station Museum! And something about the Platte River in which my brother-in-law, Adam Spilsbury, has an ancestor named for because he fell in the river as a baby only being four days old I believe. Alma Platte his name is. Platte rhymes with "flat". We planned to stay the night in Lincoln, Nebraska. But instead, we went all the way to Omaha, NE making the trip a little over a thousand miles. Kaymi did swell being that she was only 4 months old and slept all the time. (I'll never do THAT again) She also did well being crammed in the back seat with stuff on both sides of her. The only way we could get her out was through the front seat.
Is there a car seat in there somewhere?

AHHA! Yes there is.

So many corn fields!
Late that night I began to be funny from the lack of sleep. I told Jason to just wait a "CORN pickin' minute!" He didn't think that was funny -so I he must have not gotten it coming from the city. So then I said, "I wonder what CORNy recipes they have to come up with to spice things up."  He didn't think that was funny either.
DAY TWO:
Hardly seemed as though I had enough sleep -yet we left at 8 or 9am. The continental breakfast was nice.
And we're off! So many rocks had been kicked up at us that our windshield cracked. We ended up detouring to cross the Mississippi River. We stayed in Cincinnati, OH.
 Crossin' the Mighty Mrs. Sipp!

DAY THREE:
We left at 7:30 am to Wilmington, Delaware! Boy and that last ride began just to drag on. Ya know, after being in the car two days straight. Rumors of T-storms spread on the news, but none were met. I was surprised to see more cornfields all across Illinois & Iowa as well. And then:
THERE'S MY BACKYARD! We made it to Delaware at 6:45pm.

I LOVE PHOTOS! So before we left; there was another photoshoot. The girl cousins all got together and wore their cousin bracelet's that my sister Shaylyn made. THEY are beautiful. Everybody asks me where I got Kaymi's from. Now I can just send you Shay's way because she is selling them.

AWE! I didn't even notice until now, that Kaymi and Jocelyn are holding hands!!!

Some sleepy and some cranky -but we got some good ones! :) Thanks Mom!

A niece is born!

The very next day after Kaymi was blessed -a new baby came! Shaylyn and Adam celebrated the birth of their daughter Jocelyn Rhoe, whom they named after my grandfather, Thom Rowe Emerson. So it was February 21, 2010 and quite a busy weekend for us. I am thankful that my parents were there one day in Kingman for us and then in Queen Creek the next to be there to see the 19 inch long little girl that weighed 7 lbs 3oz.

Congratulations Spilsbury Family!

A Baby Blessing & A Man's Baptism

February 20, 2010 was a Saturday and a very special day for the Finlay family! Our daughter Kaymi was blessed and on that same day her Grandpa was baptized! Jason had the privilege of baptizing his father. It was a very neat experience to share with both sides of our family. Both Jason and I had both of our parents there and we only missed one sister each; Vanessa and Shaylyn were missed with their clan. But we had an overall great time.
Jason and his father Andy. It was a very nice baptism with talks given by Kayla on "Baptism" and myself on the "Holy Ghost".

 With the Elders

As you can see she was not very happy. (Me trying to laugh it off -it's not working)

Our little family. (I am officially annoyed)

One moment to take a break between cries. She is so cute!

Aunt Beeb (Heidi)

Kaymi did not like the beautiful bow that her Aunt Tess had brought for her. While adjusting it, my mom decided to catch the moment and captured an even more precious picture by accident.

Andy and Fred shaking hands. This is Jason's father and step-dad. Such a kind jester that these two can shake hands and really be sincere about it. Good men.

On a happier note:
Kaymi did later give us some good pictures.

Were it possible to crop out the monkey chonies... I would have. :)
Not wearing here pants because her diaper leaked.

I am so glad they were all able to be there!

THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE!
(Thanks Mom and Tess for taking these pictures!)
